The above edited Duha (2 liners) gives a little flavour of the way Navratri was celebrated in the UAE.

A great deal of effort had been put into the planning by the committee members & the volunteers that attracted a great deal of interest by various companies to come forward to support and sponsor the event.

The first day of Navratri started at PH Dhakan’s residence on the 8th of October evening which was attended by many of our Samaj members and other devotees of Mataji. Evening began with the Stuti/Vandana of Mataji followed by the Aarti & Vishwambhari. Varyali Sharbat and Prasad were served that was contributed by the Samaj members.

The main event started at “Sudanese Club” in Dubai.  Enthusiasm this year was even more than the last. Our Samaj members as well as members from other community flocked the ground to play garba.Although it was a normal working day the crowd attendance was very high similar to the one we expect during weekend. Such a response put a big smile on all who worked really hard put up such a show.

Garbas was mostly sung in Gujarati and some in Hindi too that was played by 4 singers & musicians “Surtaal – Ramzat” Mini Satellite Orchestra. Young and old all joined in to dance to their melodious tunes. Each day was filled with some attraction & prizes for the Best Dress & Players in various categories to maintain the tempo in the crowd this added colours to the event.

Not to miss Khaana-Peena counter, mouth-watering dishes like Pav-Bhaji, Vada-Pav were in good demand & “Gola” (Ice-Crush) with “Malai /Dryfruit” was the winner as members reenergised themselves after playing Garbaa & Daabdiyaa raas.

Nine days of Navratri was like a big carnival at the Sudancese club. It followed by 10th day Dussera which was an unforgettable event as Samaj had arranged to cater hot Gaathiyaa & Jalebi prepared by caterers to serve all members attending the venue. The event concluded with the thanks giving ceremony & appreciation of all who contributed to make the event a big success.

With this I would l like to add my special thanks to the committee for organising such grand event. Ii is really worth mentioning that our UAE Samaj is probably the only one to have organised Navratri for all ten days.

UAE Navratri - Simply the best

UAE Pattni Samaj is one of the greatest places to enjoy Navratri. Our community enjoys Navaratri and look forward to it every year!

If you want to play Garba till early hours, wearing traditional dress, having nice time with friends and eat lots of lovely food and be able to stay awake till late at night then UAE Soni Samaj is place to go. With thousand of members attending, it is the largest Navratri gathering of Pattni members.

Navratri in UAE is not just dancing alone; there is religious worship of Mataji. It has become a social and community activity. UAE Samaj is also famous for the Dress and Garba Dance competitions.
