An appeal for Sewing Machines at Rajkot touched the hearts all over Pattni Samaj

Sewing machines delivered at Rajkot Samaj for distribution on 26 Jan 2014

Appeal raises record-breaking 110 Sewing machines

for the needy Pattni families

Friday, 17 Jan 2014

Pattnis unite for a noble cause

Parajiya Pattni members around the world rallied behind the worthwhile cause to distribute sewing machines to the needy Pattni families. The generosity has been fantastic. It has touched the hearts of us all.

The preparation to distribute machines on India Republic Day, 26th January 2014 is almost complete. 80 machines are ordered for the first presentation.

110 machines are already pledged and still getting numerous inquires to donate. The pioneers of the project Naginbhai Jagada (USA) and Bhaskerbhai Devji (Bahrain) who have donated 5 machines also would like to give a Sari and Scarf to all 80 Parajiya sisters and mothers along with the sewing machines. Harshadbhai visited the Rajkot Samaj to check the machines yesterday. A photo of his visit is uploaded on the website.

Several donors have informed that they will be travelling to Rajkot to witness the memorable presentation ceremony.

This the first time in the history that there will be a  gathering of 80 needy families who will be coming to collect sewing machines, overseas donors and the Rajkot committee all sitting together to have lunch before the presentation ceremony.

It’s going to be an emotional roller coaster ride of happiness on 26th Jan. There will be happiness amongst the 80 families who will have a chance to earn their own livelihood. There will be happiness amongst donors for their contribution and there will be happiness amongst Committee members and volunteers for their contribution for this noble cause.

There will also a personal satisfaction for me too that continuously working last nine years on Pattni Connection website is now paying handsome dividends. We are now more united than ever.

Harshadbhai Rana visiting Rajkot Samaj

14 Jan 2014

What an extraordinary year to begin 2014!!

Thanks to support from our community members around the world, the global appeal for the sewing machine donation has raised funds to provide for 109 machines, making it the most successful appeal in our Samaj history.

The generosity of the Pattni members has exceeded all our expectations, especially in the current economic climate.  We are very grateful.  This money will enable us to change the futures of hundreds of Pattnis.

75 Machines to be donated in the first stage

The presentation of the sewing machines on 26th January will take place at the Samaj Mataji Mandir. It has been decided to distribute machines in two stages. In the first stage 75 families will be invited and the second stage will be organized soon after.

Thank You ALL

To organise such a global appeal is tremendously hard work. Despite banking problems that delayed opening a new foreign account for Rajkot Samaj in London, we have managed to collect most of the funds.

Credit to such a successful appeal is all due to the global team work of selfless volunteers who worked tirelessly at their own expense and giving their precious time.

Naginbhai Jagada, Harshdabhai Rana and Rajkot Samaj committee members - Sunilbhai Dhanak, Harshad H. Sagar, Rajnikant S. Dhanak, Himat P. Dhorda, Mohitbhai Kagdada and many more who really worked hard; their selfless service is worthy of praise. In fact I would say that they all should all be honoured by our community.

Special thanks to donors

Thank you so much to all donors for supporting our work in this way for such a worthwhile cause.

The website is updated with the up to date list of donors. Visit www.PattniConnection.com.

Bhartbhai Narshidas Mithabhai Ghaghada, Past PPA UK National President, visits Rajkot Samaj

Message to the community by Bharatbhai

31st Dec 2013

We visited Rajkot Boarding today but were not able to meet with the committee as they had to attend two funerals within the community.

I have made my donation in memory of my late mother Mrs Labhkunver Narshidas Mithabhai Ghaghda and seen the machines - 15 already delivered to Samaj.

I was informed yesterday that requests for allocation of machines is coming in from all parts of Gujarat including one from as far as Surat.

It is a tremendous achievement for our community to have so much support. A lot of this is down to the publicity via Pattni Connection.

Regards

Bharat

22nd Dec 2013

The distribution of sewing machines to the needy has not just become the Talk of the Town but now has become The Talk of the Village.

The word has spread in villages in India about the distribution programme.

Rajkot Samaj held a committee meeting today afternoon, Sunday 22nd December to discuss about the machine distribution. The reaction to the heart-breaking stories in the letters of application touched the hearts of the committee members. Some of the letters will be published on the Pattni Connection website with its English translation soon. To date they have already received 38 applications from the families in need.

As Parajiya Samachar publication will cover the story in this month’s issue inviting families to apply for the machines, it is now gearing up for the flood of applications.

On the other hand, our worldwide community too is so touched and there has been a global response to the appeal. To become a donor means to give needy families a chance to stand on their own feet. It is one of the most generous gestures that a human being can make.

.

Several members have suggested that we should join forces to drum up donations and throw down the gauntlet, a challenge, that we will meet all applications for sewing machines by the deserved families.

Distribution of Machines re-scheduled for 26th January 2014.

The first distribution of machine was going to take place at the Rajkot Samaj building on Sunday 15th December 2013. However due to unforeseen circumstances, this event was postponed. It is now going to take place on the India’s Republic Day, Sunday, 26th January.

Pledge Now Donate later

Collecting and remitting through a personal account is fine for smaller amounts but when the donation amount becomes large then it needs a proper setup. This can only be done by Samaj opening a foreign bank account.

In order to open a foreign account by an India based charity, it needs permission from RBI - Reserve Bank of India. The formalities normally take approximately 3 months to complete. Rajkot Mahamandal has almost completed all the procedures. The final inspection of account books took place few days ago and now are expecting to get the official confirmation soon

While this setup is being completed, the Samaj is asking members to make a pledge now but hold back the donations till it’s ready to accept funds.

Once the permission is granted by RBI it will enable us to open a foreign account in London whereby donors can bank straight into Rajkot Samaj’s account.

So while we await opening of the account, members are most welcome to pledge now and make donations later.

If you are visiting India, you are most welcome to Rajkot Samaj on 26th January to witness the distribution programme

It is indeed a great honour for Harshadbhai and me to be invited as special guests to this historic event for a noble cause. I look forward to meeting many members of our community at Rajkot.

Rise to the occasion helping our community members
What a huge response within just a day since sending out the circular yesterday. Such response reminds me of the worldwide response that Pattni families gave to Mombasa Samaj to build the shopping centre.

I know that our community members always rise to the occasion and raise lots of money for such extremely worthwhile cause. Each machine merely cost Rs 6,000 (approx £63).

If you wish to donate a machine please contact:

Kenya - Harshadbhai Rana - hprana15@gmail.com  Tel 0722825359

India -  Naginbhai Jagada - naginjagada@gmail.com

UK & other countries - Pranlal C Arjan e-mail: PattniConnection@gmail.com Tel 07956 442107

Giving such a machine means livelihood for our Pattni sisters. Do please come forward for such a noble cause.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
