SRIMAD BHAGWAT SAPTAH 2005

Nand ghare anand bhayo Jai Kanhiya Lalki

The Pattni Brotherhood Nairobi together with the Pushtimarg Haveli Sangh hosted a Srimad Bhagvat Saptah with 25 Pothijis from 27th February to 5th March 2005 at Pattni Brotherhood hall, Nairobi. Shree Dwarkeshlalji Mahoday from India read the Bhagvat.

The whole idea began when Shree Dwarkeshlalji met up with the managing committee of Pattni Brotherhood late last year and inspired the committee to host such an event in 2005.

The Saptah’s events began with a Shobhayatra on Sunday, 27th February from the residence of the chairman Shri Vijaykumar Ghaghda to Pattni Brotherhood hall after making a stop at Shri Jalaram Mandir. Over 50 young and old ladies from the samaj carried the pothijis in turns and around 500 people participated in this yatra. The Shobhayatra ended at the Pattni Brotherhood hall where a celebration was held to mark the beginning of the saptah.

During the week of the saptah, the saptah was read between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm., followed by Mahaprasad. Cultural events, dances and bhajans were presented to the attendees by different community / temple groups.

On average about 1500 people attended the lectures and between 2000-2500 people had Prasad everyday. Number of people attending the Saptah enjoyed the various events like Nand Mahotsav, Govardhan Parvat Mahotsav and Tulsi Vivaah on various days.

The memorable event ended on Sunday, 6th March with 125 couples taking part in a Shree Purshottam Mahayagna.

The managing committee of Pattni Brotherhood worked tirelessly to ensure that the event was a huge success. This would not have been possible without the enthusiasm and hard work of the Pattni Women’s wing and small army of volunteers.
