To remember those good old
years, Samaj youths organized cards tournament of CHOKDI played by four
participants in a team of two each.
Samaj members playing Chokdi to remember the
elders
It reminded many of their
weekly Saturday night cards sessions some ten to forty years ago.
Harsukhbhai Damji Lakha
recalled the good old days of pure joy and fellowship. He now misses dearly all
members who have migrated to other parts of the world
or are not in this world
anymore with us. He mentioned a few like late Dwarkadas Jethalal (Bapu), Late
Jayantibhai Patt (Patel), Sunderjibhai Jetshi Naran,
Late Manilalbhai Diwan, Late
Chhaganlal Arjan Dhanak, Dullabhai Naran Vaya, Keshubhai Damji Lakha, Late
Popatlal Virji Ghagdha, Keshubhai Damji Lakha,
Kanubhai Bhagwanji Devji amongst
others.
All members took part and
paid Chokdi. Samaj’s Vice Chairman Kishorbhai Vaya and the committee member Rajeshbhai
Sakaria team were the winners.
This took us to almost 9.45pm
time for the ever famous SPPS Dinner!!
The menu was Peri Peri chips,
Pizza vegeteriano / Margarita, Mix Bhajia of Onion, Green Chili, Maru &
Ajma leaves with assorted chutney & the famous
Mombasa bomb sauce. Ice cold
soft drinks to put off the fire of the chilies from the Pizza & Bhajia's.
A Very Happy 63rd
Anniversary
Now came the time to wish our institution
a Happy 63rd Birthday.
An eggless cake was being cut
by the youngest members of our fraternity & leaders of tomorrow.
All enjoyed the dessert of
vanilla & chocolate flavour cake by Mombasa's famous baker Yasmin.
Happy Birthday
Manjulaben!
Mombasa Samaj wishes Manjulalben a very
happy birthday
Mrs Manjulabhabhi Harsukhbhai
D. Lakha also celebrated her birthday falling on the next day. She became
emotional upon being wished by all members of the Samaj.
Goodbye Patrick
Momo
Finally the time to say Kwaheri (goodbye) to our caretaker Patrick Momo.
He had joined our Samaj in
1977 just before the Samaj’s 25th Silver Jubilee. He was introduced to the
Samaj by Late Bhagwanji Devji as a honest and a dedicated employee.
Since then he has held all
the storage keys, gate keys etc.
Kwaheri and
Thank You Patrick Momo
Momo - A true Hindu
Devotee
He has been fasting (Nakor
Apwas) every Thursdays as per Hindu faith for a very long time. The reason for
this was purely because one of our Samaj elders had
asked him to voluntarily do
it.
He lost his dear wife in June
2015 after succumbing to lung diseases. He will now retire in his home town of
Kitui.
The Samaj gave him a Golden
Handshake in form of monetary benefits & a Sony digital flat screen
television.
Another member of our Samaj
Jatantilal Jamnadas Nathoo also gave a cash gift of 25,000/- K.Shs.
It was an emotional moment
for many as Patrick had been just like family & seen many generations.
Speech by Ajay
Bhagwanji Pattni (Hon Sec.)
Dear Members.
Today we are bidding farewell
to a person who has been just like a family to many of us. Patrick is retiring
after serving our Samaj for 39 years.
He had seen our 25th Silver Jubilee,
50th Golden Jubilee and the Diamond Jubilee (60 years). He also witnessed the
opening of the P. J. Center and
the Wageshwari Mataji temple.
He has been a dedicated &
loyal son of our Samaj. The youths of today were not born when he took over the
caretaking of our Samaj.
He has respected the elders, ladies & equally the
minors of this institution.
He lost his wife this year
& we pray for her soul to rest in eternal peace.
wewe a seme kitu kwa members wetu.
Jai Ram.
