Amreli is bounded by Bhavnagar in the East, Junagadh in the West, Rajkot in the North and Arabian Sea in the south.

It is believed that during the year 534 AD, Amreli existed as a city place with name Anumanji. After that the name was Amlik and then Amravati. The ancient Sanskrit name of Amreli was Amarvalli. Initially Amreli was the part of former Gaikwad State of Baroda. During Gaikwad regime in 1886, the compulsory and free education policy was adopted in Amreli for the first time. After independence the district became the part of Bombay State and a separate district in Gujarat State after the bifurcation of Bombay State.

Student Educational Encouragement Award Ceremony

It is important to encourage and facilitate students to be active participants in the wider community and inspiring them to make a positive difference to their own educational experience and to the Parajiya Pattni Soni Samaj.

Shree Parajiya Pattni Soni Sewa Mandal Trust, Amreli organised a facilitation program for the community students who excelled themselves in education by presenting awards at the Shree A. A. Dhakan Hall.

Jitubhai Luhar was invited to be the chief guest. The ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp of wisdom by Soni Community Mother Banuma. The main donor of the function, Kishorbhai Kagdada flew in from Bahrain to grace the occasion.

More than 500 community members attended to witness the ceremony where 155 students were honoured. Kishorbhai Kagdada undertake to support the function expenses as a permanent donor and Vimalbhai Sureshbhai Dhanak declared to become a permanent donor by undertaking to pay for student�s food expenses. Jitubhai Luhar donated two computers and a water cooler to the Samaj.

Leaders of our community Dhirubhai Sagar (Rajkot Samaj president), Amubhai Dhakan (past editor, Parajiya Samachar), Sunilbhai Dhanak (current editor, Parajiya Samachar) Rajnibhai Dhakan (Surat) and many guests from towns and villages attended the function..

The function was a huge success thanks to the hard work and voluntary services by Arvinbhai Dhakan, Sharadbhai, Dhirubhai Jagda, Vasantbhai Dhakan, Manharbhai Dhorda, Bhikubhai, Sharadbhai Dhakan, Manishbhai Luhar, Arvinbhai Luhar, Sanjaybhai Choksi, Kishorbhai Dhorda and Ravibhai Pattni.
