Naginbhai Jagda receives standing ovation for dressing up as Gandhiji on the India's Independence Day
The Gujarati Senior Center of Plano, Frisco, Allen, and
McKinney (in the Dallas, Texas area), USA hosted an event to commemorate India's
Independence Day. As part of the event a costume contest was held.
Naginbhai and his wife decided to dress up as Gandhiji and Kasturba. Similar to
Gandhiji's philosophy in life, their costume was simple, yet had a profound impact.
Appreciative audience
As soon as they entered the venue, everybody in the room gave us a standing
ovation. An audience of nearly 100 seniors and others were beaming with joy
throughout the entire evening.
Their hearts were overwhelmed with the adulation, respect
and attention from one and all - from the moment they walked in until we left
three hours later. the entire event brought a lot of joy and national pride to
everyone present.
They were honored to receive the first prize, but the real
reward was the joy we brought to so many with our tribute to Bapuji.

Foundation For Excellence (FFE) helping students in need
Message from Naginbhai Jagada
Nayan with his mother Urmilaben
We are happy to inform you that our facilitator Shri Prafulbhai Goswami (#F1274) visited the home of a student in a small village named Gajana, near Lalpur,
Gujarat State just to make sure whether we are working as per rules of Foundation For Excellence (FFE), California who is providing scholarships to very needy and bright students.
Name of Student: Patel Nayanbhai Hasmukhbhai
Family: Urmilaben, his mother who became a widow 14 years ago. Father was an alcoholic.
Nayan has an older brother who is a Computer Science engineer and now works in Pune Status: 4th year Medical student
Scholarship: INR 30,000 from FFE, USA
Village: Gajana, district Lalpur which is approximately 150 km from Rajkot
Population: approximately 2,000
Their story:
When Nayan's father passed away in Unza village, near Mehsana, Nayan was 7 years old. Due to her dire financial situation, Nayan's mother moved
with her few possessions to her mother's village Gajana, one room in a small home in Gajana village, free house to stay given by her mother but no financial help.
She makes approximately INR 40 per day and supports her 97 year old mother.
The young widow worked very hard to put her bright young sons through school and college. She worked in farms carrying items back and forth.
When Nayan got admission in BJ Medical College based on his academic skills, he also needed money to cover college fee, room, food and other expenses.
He approached us for a scholarship from FFE.
With generous assistance from FFE and blessings from everyone, he will be a doctor in 2 years. His expenses areas follows: food and other living expenses
Rs.2,800 per month, and college fees Rs.7000 per year.
Thanks to the Rs. 30,000 scholarship from FFE for Rs.30,000 he is managing his finances well now. He told our facilitator that he hopes to work for the poor
once he becomes a doctor. He will be the only doctor in his village.
This is a very touching story. We are very happy to mention here that we have reached 40 students' lives so far. They are getting scholarship from FFE and
the number of students is increasing every year May God Bless this family, FFE and all of you.
