Smt. Kusumben Satikuwar - Pursuing the spiritual path

Smt. Kusumben Yashwant Satikuwar is from Mauwa. She is truly a pure devotee of Lord Shiva.

For the past 30 yrs she has been doing continuous mantra jaap day and night. She hardly lies down to relax and also hasn’t eaten a morsel of food since she devoted herself to Lord Shiva. She just takes a sip of coffee or water in a day.

She has been to the Narmada Parikrama many times bare foot. She observes a total maun vraat during shrawan maas, 4 nauratris and other such holy periods.

The importance of the Narmada River as sacred is testified by the fact that the pilgrims perform a holy pilgrimage of a Parikrama of the river.

The Narmada Parikrama, as it is called, is considered to be a very sacred act that a pilgrim can undertake. Many sadhus (saints) and pilgrims walk on foot from the Arabian Sea at Bharuch in Gujarat, along the Narbada River, to the source in Maikal Mountains in Madhya Pradesh and back along the opposite bank of the river. It is a 2,600-kilometre (1,600 mi) walk. This Parikrama is considered to be of the highest religious accomplishment.

Ashram

Kusumben has lived all these years in Mauwa. However, 2 years back Kusumben and her husband shifted to a small place called Orri which is situated 20 km from Rajpippla (Bharuch). It’s an ashram close to the Narmada river where many sant-mahatma, sadhu, sadhvi are given lodging and boarding during narmada parikrama.

Sadavraat, gau shala (cow shed) and ann shetra (food daan) are carried here. The ashram is also the home for a small Shiv Mandir and a Radha Krishna Mandir.

One very kind yajman Mr. Babulal Keshavlal Dhakan (Kunal gold, Dubai) has done everything possible to renovate the ashram with mandir jirno-udhar.

An Appeal For Help to build Gau-shala

Now Kusumben feels the need to have a proper shed for the Gau-shala. Due to the open space, cows are in danger of some beast around. The cost of building the shed comes up to 4-5 lakh rupees. Our aim is to raise as much fund possible for this shed. It’s all voluntary.
