Devo Ke Dev Mahadev & Pattni History

by Pranlal C. Arjan Dhanak, Webmaster/Editor

There is a fascinating history of our community that is connected with the TV serial “Devon Ke Dev Mahadev”.

“Devon Ke Dev Mahadev”, (Life OK TV Chanel) which ruled millions of hearts for more three years, is coming to an end tonight after completing 820 episodes.
Mahadev based on Shiv Puran, at its peak reached out to about 50 million worldwide viewers. Hundreds of Pattni members also follow this daily episode. Tonight’s episode will be the finale.

For those Pattni members who are following the series would be interested to know that the story of Mahadev has a connection to the history of our Parajiya Pattni community.

Last Friday’s episode showed Banasur killed by Kumari, the reincarnation of Paravati. Banasur was the king of Sonitpur and a devotee of Lord Shiva.

According to the book written by our Soni Barot Sagarbhai, Sonitpur was known as Babylon, now modern day Syria.

However reading the ancient Indian history, Sonitpur was not is Syria but infact now India. Sonitpur is now called Tezpur, located in modern city in the Indian state of Assam.

According to the ancient history, Banasur had a beautiful daughter named Usha. Her best friend was called Chitralekha, daughter of Kumbhanda, Minister of Banasura.

Usha fell in love with Aniruddh, the son of Pradyuman and the grandson of Lord Krishna, the ruler of Dwarka.

With the help of Chitralekha, Usha spirited Aniruddh away to the princess' palace without the knowledge of the king. Soon Aniruddh too fell in love with Usha. When Banasura
learnt of the clandestine romance, he imprisoned Aniruddh, which led to the arrival of Lord Krishna to Sonitpur to rescue his grandson. A fierce battle followed and the entire city
was drenched in human blood. In the battle Banasura was defeated. As Banasur was Shiva’s devotee Krishna spared his life and also agreed Usha to marry Aniruddh.
This was shown in the past episodes of “Devon Ke Dev Mahadev”.

Banasur was eventually killed by Kumari, the reincarnation of Maa Parvati as shown in last Friday’s episode.

Now we continue the above story that links to the history Parajiya Pattni Soni community.

History of Parajiya Pattni Soni

After the death of Banasur, his minister Kumbhanda (Chitralekha’s father) became the king of Sonitpur.

In order to keep the friendly relation between Dwarka and Sonitpur, both Shree Krishna and King Kumbhanda mutually agreed to marry Kumbhand’s Chitralekha to Ushnik,
Krishna’s grandson and son of Samba. Samba was the son of Shree Krishna and Jambavati.

Descendants of Krishna are called Chandra Vanshi. According to the Barot’s book, Dhanak’s pariwar lineage starts from Chitralekha and Ushnik. Currently our children are
122nd generation descendent of Shree Krishna.

I am currently writing the full history of our community and shall publish on the website as soon as I finish the project.

Meanwhile happy viewing tonight’s final episode of “Devon Ke Dev Mahadev” at 8.00pm tonight (UK time)
