For the first time in the history of national television, viewers of SABC 2 will be treated to a full documentary on Lord Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles, to celebrate His birthday this Saturday.

This documentary looks at celebrations at various venues and a most interesting angle is the comparison between the celebrations in South Africa and India. Mumbai sees millions of devotees thronging in the streets carrying huge ‘Ganesha’s’ to be immersed in the ocean. South Africa sees the Kendra community immerse a ‘Ganesha’ in the ocean by a diver from a helicopter !!!!
